Did you know that January is National Mentoring Month? While we know that our foster parents are technically mentoring & modeling for the children in their care, we feel that they need mentors too!
One of MCFAPA’s initiatives for 2020 is to establish a Foster Parent Mentor Program called REAP. Our goals from this include:
- Retaining much-needed foster families by providing a one-on-one mentor to provide encouragement & support.
- Equipping new families with the skills & strategies needed to be successful in caring for children from hard places.
- Assisting new families with the skills, strategies, & community that they need to be successful
- Preventing disruptions with children in care due to stress
